About

foursandeights is a collaboration between designers hellomarie and luckydarren. We are a risograph studio and design collective with an obsession for print. As foursandeights have been awarded Arts Council National Lottery Project Grants for large scale community projects and are regularly engaging with different ways to connect communities through creative communication. We put connection and narrative at the heart of everything we do. This is an extension of how we experience life. We use these connections and the stories that are threaded through our day to day as foundations for experimentation and play. It is this creative exploration that keeps the things we do fresh to us and full of the joys of living. We fell in love with print, so everything centres around the processing of imagery, text and narratives for this as a medium. Even if the things we make get very digital and move away from ink and paper, we always infer that connection to physical and analogue design.

the old slaughterhouse_ In April we moved from the Hotwalls Studios to the Old Slaughterhouse. This is an exciting move for us, bigger, brighter, lighter, private space for us to work and run workshops from plus we have some rad neighbours in the building and we’re still super close to the beach. Win, win. One weekend a month we will be hosting a pop up from the front of Bay Coffee downstairs so you can come and have a browse through the 70+ new prints we have and see what new work we’ve been working on.

micro riso print vending_ We’re excited to finally launch our micro risograph print vending machine back in May. There are 50 unique designs and vends on a lucky dip basis, one and two colour prints to collect with the odd shiny sticker too.

We make mirco prints to test ideas, colours, textures, combinations before we run a new series so this is a little sneak, less waste and they’re well cute.
