ADULT WORKSHOPS
An introduction to Japanese Stab Stitch Bookbinding
This session is an introduction to Japanese stab binding, learning about paper and binding methods. We will be making custom A6 recycled Risograph notebooks with bellybands as well as coming away with the skills you have learnt during the session.
We provide all materials. The ink used in the cover stock (risograph printed) for this workshop is rice bran based, please wear suitable clothing as it can stain fabrics. There is also the option to purchase bookbinding materials after the session. You will need a steady hand as we will be using awls and scalpels.
Risograph prints we recycle will vary session to session although we use the most colourful for these workshops and still recycle others.
An introduction to Traditional Bookbinding
This session is an introduction to traditional binding, learning about
paper and binding methods. We will be making custom A5 notebooks with cover and bellyband as well as coming away with the skills you have learnt during the session.
We provide all materials. There is also the option to purchase various bookbinding materials after the session at the studio. You will need a steady hand as we will be using awls and scalpels during this session.
An introduction to Letterpress Printing
This session is an introduction to letterpress printing. We will briefly discuss the history of print before learning how to set type and lock up a chase with a design to print postcards from using one of our proofing presses.
We have a range of wood and lead type as well as custom printing blocks using metallics, colourful and neon inks! We will be learning the basics of traditional letterpress printing and getting inky.

Flora, Leaf and Feather Printing Workshop
In this workshop we will start the session in our studio with a brief introduction before heading to the beach (weather permitting) to search for fallen flowers, leaves and feathers to print back at the studio. We will be taking rubbings, gelli transfers, pressing and printing directly making A6 prints to frame and take home.
We provide all materials included. Please wear suitable clothing.
Adult Lego Printing Workshops
Darren started lego printing with our own childrens Duplo whilst experimenting with modular print in 2016 for his MA in Graphic Design which quickly extended into lego printing with our kids. The inky Duplo and Lego in our studio is one of the first things kids point out when coming in with their parents who then ask if we do adult workshops too.
Using Lego, ink, brayers and our presses you’ll create and print your own designs. Experimenting with different colours, overlays and different textures as well as modular letterforms and patterns and how to make your plates type high.
We provide all materials. Please wear suitable clothing as it may stain fabrics.
We have midweek after work sessions, music, beers (you bring these if you want to!) or coffees for an evening of creativity and inky lego.
An introduction to Risograph Printing
This session is an introduction to Risograph printing and preparation of imagery for colour from black and white and greyscale.
We will be experimenting with shape, line, form and texture in an analogue way working with colour and overlays to create a custom A3 2 colour print. Please do not bring laptops or digital files but feel free to bring anything you may want to mark make with.
We provide all materials. The ink we use for this workshop is vegetable based rice bran ink, please wear suitable clothing as it can stain.
Ink colours may vary session to session.

Adobe Workshops (Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop)
You will learn the basics of either Illustrator, Indesign or Photoshop
exploring the tool set and the capabilities of the software. If you already know the basics contact us for a 1-1 session adapted to your needs.
We have a large screen projection for you to follow the tutors screen on and have allowed time for different learning speeds and troubleshooting.
You will need to attend with a laptop with a version of Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop / InDesign installed. You may find it useful to bring a mouse if you prefer using one over your trackpad but this is personal preference.
Create your own sketchbook / notebook
Something we have introduced at events is create your own saddle stitched sketchbook / notebook with a pick and mix of colours, papers, designs and elements you can build to your own personal spec and then collate and bind yourself.
Choosing from a range of colourful risograph printed inner pages available in dot, grid or lined and a selection of different weights for the cover.
KIDS WORKSHOPS
Kid’s Mini Risograph Beach Workshops
In this workshop we focus on our love for the planet, beaches and sea creatures. We start the session meeting at the Wind Breaks (weather permitting) with a brief introduction then walk to the beach. Drawing our favourite things about the beach, fish, seashells, boats, sunshine, seaweed, seagulls to make a very limited special A3 colour (vegetable based ink) Risograph print.
These will be printed by Marie and Darren in the days after the workshop and can be collected the following weekend. Additional prints at an extra cost can be made at the time too for that special gift for grandparents and family members. All materials included.
Pop Up Inflatable Booth Workshops
We will be setting up pop ups in various outdoor spaces in and around Portsmouth, bringing a range of workshops for kids and young people.
Please wear suitable clothing. These are weather dependent.

permitting) with a brief introduction before searching for fallen flowers, leaves and feathers to print with. We will be taking rubbings, transfers, pressing and printing directly making A6 prints to frame and take home.
We provide all materials including a small acyrlic fronted frame.
Please wear suitable clothing as we will be using a range of materials.
Kids Lego Printing Workshop
In this workshop we will be having fun learning to print with Lego.
Using Lego, ink, brayers and our nipping press you'll create your own designs and print them as many times as you like and take your creations home. Experimenting with different colours, overlays and different textures as well as making stamps from lego too.
We provide all materials. The ink we use for this workshop is washable however please wear suitable clothing as it may stain fabrics.
