Introduction to Letterpress Printing Workshop (Festive Edition)

This session is an introduction to letterpress printing. We will briefly discuss the history of print before learning how to set type and lock up a chase with a festive design to print greetings cards from using our Adanas and small proofing press. We have a range of wood and lead type as well as custom printing blocks using Metallics, Reds, Greens and Neon inks! We will be learning the basics of traditional letterpress printing while eating mince pies and drinking tea – Bloomin' festive.

We provide all materials. The ink we use for this workshop is oil based, please wear suitable clothing as it may stain fabrics.

We will break for lunch for one hour. You can bring a packed lunch and eat in the studio or go to The Canteen which has a brilliant lunch menu and amazing views!

Bring an extra layer as the round tower can take a while to warm up.

• Workshops are non refundable

• The Hotwalls Studios are wheelchair friendly

• There are public toilets including an accessible toilet situated at the Hotwalls Studios. There are no toilets within our studio

• There is limited, free one hour on road parking as well as payable metered parking. There are also areas to lock up your bike(s). The Hotwalls Studios has good transport links too – If you have any questions about how to get to us please email us

• We are a working print studio and open to the public

• We have The Canteen at the Hotwalls Studios which serves great tea, coffee and lunch with beautiful views
